The Big Reveal

I've finished the pears. The Canning Season is done with. And now for the tallying. Prepare to be amazed. I know I was.

The Lists first:

Frozen

8 quarts plain corn
3 quarts maquechoux
4 quarts strawberries
6 quarts blackberries (MiL)
2 quarts green beans (MiL)

Canned
(brace yourselves)

5 quarts refrigerator dill pickles
8 quarts green beans (MiL)
5 pints strawberry jam
5 pints apricot jam (MiL)
5 pints blackberry jelly
5 pints peach jam (MiL)
11 quarts mulberry juice
39 quarts plain tomatoes
5 pints sour cherry preserves (MiL)
7 quarts chicken stock
4 quarts beef stock
5 pints Finny's tomato sauce
5 pints spaghetti sauce
8 pints spaghetti with meat sauce
7 pints mild salsa
14 pints hot salsa
5 pints tomato soup
1.5 stupid pints of ketchup (Ball said this recipe would make 3 pints--THEY LIED)
7 quarts spiced Asian pears
10 quarts peaches
4 quarts applesauce
1 pint pickled jalapenos
39(!) quarts pears

In case you were wondering, that's 207 jars of food.

And now for the photographic evidence.

The Fruit

This is just the tomato products. JUST THE TOMATOES. I win!

And now for a bonus potato shot!

Cleverly disguised in wine boxes.

Suddenly, I feel the need to rest.

Take the winter off. Go ahead - you've earned it.

GOOD LORD!

That picture of the Bogle wine box made me bite my knuckle and cry a little. I know it's filled with potatoes, but still.

Wow, I feel like a bum.... still feel like a bum... still feel like a bum... okay, this is just not going to pass.

Whatever, C. You could have done this had you not had to go to, like, TWO JOBS. And then there's that whole gestating a baby thing. Who's the bum now? That would be me.

That's a whole lotta food. Now if only those boxes were actually filled with wine...

Just out of curiosity, do you expect to go through all of that before next year's garden starts coming in? Because I'll tell you, I'd be about sick and damn tired of pears long before they were all gone.

You have to admit though, that first shot of all the food is pretty hot...

Little glass jars all in a line.

Potatoes stored up in boxes of wine,

Pears from the cellar will soon overflow.

Always remember you reap what you sow!

Yes I'm a dork, I'm sleep deprived, and have way too much time on my hands. Great job with the canning...very impressive! Kim

PS...
Kristin's worked hard don't you all think?

Let's meet at her house to have us a drink!

And you've got to know that besides all that, we have fresh grape juice that Kristin has been making nights after making fantastic dinners. A and MiL are spoiled babies.

Drew: Yes. And I have already informed all members of the household that they'd better gear up for a lot of meals starring potatoes. And there will be no whining.

I'm very strict.

They look so pretty all lined up. Maybe you shouldn't eat them? It will be interesting to see how you use them and how long they last. Do you plan on doing it again next year?

*Bows to Kristen* Given that is a TON of work, I still can't help but be in awe of what a fantastic garden you must have! Great yums to come for you this winter!!! :)

When the world goes to hell -- and it's pert near there as we say in Mayberry -- I'm coming to live in your basement. I mean that.
