As Promised

The whole happy flock . . . and the flockmaster.

The puppies think it's totally bogus that they're stuck in this pen while the big dogs get to run free.

A lamb AND a puppy picture? I know, I spoil you. You're welcome.

Now there's something you can do for me. Or actually, for the MiL. Today is her birthday. She claims not to like birthdays, but I bet she would like to get some fun birthday greetings from you. So here is your mission, should you choose to accept it. Compose a birthday poem for the MiL and post it in the comments. It doesn't have to rhyme, if you're feeling all free form and modern. And if a poem is too much for you, probably a simple "Happy Birthday!!!!!" (the multiple exclamation marks are key) would do. But I think poems are more fun.

I'll go first.

Ahem.

This day belongs to the MiL
And so we all join in to wish her well
It's much more fun than the taxes we must pay
To wish the MiL a happy birthday!

Hey, I didn't say it had to be a good poem. Have at it, duckies!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MiL!!! I'm not as creative as your DiL, but best wishes just the same.

Your Mil is really a peach,
the kind we all want ,
and not just a leech.

Today is her birthday,
and all of us wish,
a very happy day,
and her favorite dish.

HAPPY , HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!!!!!

Come on, gotta be a limerick:

Kristen's MiL was born on tax day,

So though you may think it is whack, say,

"Happy birthday to you,

"And all the day through,

"My bad mood ain't for you but for those scum-sucking leaches who take HOW MUCH? Are you freaking KIDDING ME?! COME ON!"

Okay, so I lost the rhyme scheme a little bit toward the end there.

A Haiku:

Birthday and Tax Day
Not a good combination
At least you get cake.

Happy Birthday, MIL!

We know that your life is on hold,
Planning a wedding with problems still to unfold.
But take time from the strife,
To celebrate your life.
You deserve a bit of time to control.
Happy Birthday Mil. You're great family!!

Happy birthday, MiL,
I hope your day goes real well.
Maybe you'll get lots of good loot and some kisses from the puppies to boot!

(You said it didn't have to be good.)

Happy Birthday, Kris' MiL! I hope you're feeling well enough after your recent run-in with the frisky and stubborn sheep to go cuddle all those adorable puppies.

Cheers!
Finny

happy birthday M-I-L
i wish you a day that's oh so well
from you on this blog
i learned a few tricks
how to fight stains
and have corn that doesn't stick
on the cob
it stays contained
in a bundt pan
and not on the floor
that way i can eat more
now i can't fit out the door
to go outside
and exercise
so instead
i will lie in bed
reading about puppies and lambs
and yosemite sams
killing roosters and all the canning
i'll stop rhyming and rambling
and instead wish you
a merry birthday to all and
to all a good night!

Entranced by Blackrock
and you, its matriarch,
presiding over the timeless beauty
and family heirlooms within,
I offer my greeting,
modest
but heartfelt,
to a kindred spirit
of sorts
who sees beauty
in life's accoutrements,
of which you must surely be
Kristin and A's
most prized.

MiL, oh MiL
I have no idea how it must feel
To live in the country
With Kristen and hubby
At least someone's keepin' it real

(What that means I have no idea.)

Happy B-day MiL!!!

Umm...I stink at poems, so...

Happy Birthday!!!!!

And thank you for being an awesome mother in law, just like mine is, so that together you can both heal the name of mothers in law everywhere. Congratulations on being awesome.

Also, your awesomeness is compounded by the fact that today is also my mother's birthday - anyone that shares her birthday is a-ok in my book.
