Today I seem to be bored with myself and my life. Since I am my main topic, this means I can't think of a single damn thing to write about. And also, we're having a massive party on Saturday (75 people--there is some doubt they will all even fit in the downstairs) and I should be cleaning and decorating, but I don't want to. I'm feeling very pathetic and whiny today. Which leads me to . . .
It's Audience Participation Day! Because obviously I have nothing entertaining to say today, so you get to pick up the slack. Yay! So, the topic of the day, in honor of the cleaning that I am NOT doing: Most Hated Household Chore. Mine is cleaning our bathroom, which is perpetually mildewy and nasty and never looks clean even when I just finished scrubbing it. Bastard.
So what's yours? Making beds? Doing dishes? Changing light bulbs? Cleaning the cat box? Or do you refuse to do anything at all and just wallow in your own filth?
I get easily grossed out by kitchen chores (oddly enough, I don't get grossed out quite as badly by bathroom chores). I have a really hard time cleaning the microwave or wiping down the refrigerator shelves. I usually just whine until Brad does it.
ReplyDeleteSweeping. We have all hardwood and tile floors and only one rug in the living rooms and one in the kitchen. I like to walk around barefoot, so I can't stand it if there dirt on the floor. I usually end up sweeping every day.
ReplyDeleteWhich wouldn't be so bad had I not broken my back 6 years ago allowing he slightly bent over position sweeping puts you in to bring on excruciating, mind-numbing pain.
Yay.
I refuse to do floors. REFUSE. I have a housekeeper come every two weeks and that's mostly what she does. I don't even mind cleaning up where, "the boys miss," if you know what I'm saying. But I will wallow on some filthy floors.
ReplyDeleteHave a great party!!
I actually don't mind any household chore. There's something relaxing about it for me. Perhaps it's because it's different than my technology oriented work life.
ReplyDeleteCleaning the bathroom. I hate cleaning the toilet and scrubbing the shower. Definitely my least favorite household chore.
ReplyDeleteLet us see here...hate the laundry, hate the dishes, hate cleaing the floors, but, with 4 boys I bettcha can't guess what I hate most!
ReplyDeleteYes it is the toilet, the throne, the commode...any which way you call it, it is gross!
My boys have been known to pee all at the same time to see how many bubbles they can make, they like to see who can pee the fastest,or who can pee the farthest, and invariably they miss...a lot.
What is it with boys and aiming that thing?
Now go clean your house...it certainly can't be as bad as mine!

Cleaning the kitchen after someone else (read: my boyfriend) has cooked and made a horrible mess, like grease on the stovetop and splattered on the side of the refrigerator. Plus there's no room for a dishwasher in the tiny kitchen of my 90-year-old house, so doing the dishes means doing them by hand, which is okay except for the really grody ones.
ReplyDeleteI loathe and despise cleaning out the bathtub. Luckily for me, SO actually *likes* to do it, so we trade - he cleans out the tub, I vacuum.
ReplyDeleteI dislike any and all household cleaning jobs. But my least favorite is dusting. It never fails that I just get one surface clean, move to the next one and the first one already has gotten dusty again. Why?
ReplyDeleteTaking out the garbage. Silly - as it only involves getting it to a dumpster 10 yards away...but I hate it. Wandering thru the house collecting from all the cans is just too much work, and it's amazing how much you can cram in them when you don't want to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteMoi
My alltime hated chore, not counting, picking up after teenagers, is washing the damn windows.. Finger prints drive me nuts, but washing the cold Alaskan windows Sucks!
ReplyDelete~M~
i hate folding laundry! hate, hate, hate it!
ReplyDeleteWe have domestic help. I don't even dress myself anymore. We need to let the chauffeur go because he doesn't keep the cars nearly clean enough, but otherwise, things are going pretty smoothly.
ReplyDeleteHowever, before I took all these hallucinogenic drugs, I remember disliking the folding and putting away of laundry.
Mopping.
ReplyDeleteI hate it so much it used to haunt my nightmares.
Until I got a cleaning lady and all my cleaning woes were solved.
Dishes.
ReplyDeleteAnd taking out the trash.
Get this though: the SigOt likes both those chores, with vacuuming and bathroom-cleaning thrown in to boot, WHO KNEW?!?!?!?!??!
I am one lucky cubicle denizen. :D:D:D:D
