Thinking great thoughts already. Possibly, "When's snack time, lady?"
If he looks a little yellow to you, that's because he is. He has some jaundice. Apparently the result of my blood type and his being the most incompatible combination of all. YAY! So we have to bring him to get checked at the pediatrician tomorrow. He may have to have a little tanning session, but nothing major. In fact, I might be tempted to join him under those lights.
As for the name . . . I'm sorry, but I must keep the mystery alive. However, since he was man-cub when he was in utero, I think it would be appropriate to continue the theme. Therefore, I christen him with his blog name of Cubby.
Welcome to the Blackrock party, Cubby. Now hang on for the ride.

You two sure did make a cute baby. He's absolutely beautiful, Kristin - and judging from the few photos of you I've seen on here he looks just like you!

Just an adorable baby! You are so blessed. Welcome to parenthood! Your life will never be the same!!!
ReplyDeleteHe's beautiful, Congratulations. Julie
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like he's thinking "When's nap time?" but maybe that's because that is what I am thinking right now...
ReplyDeleteMy daughter got to do the tanning sessions, too. They had a little portable light panel about 5x7 that she could just wear under her clothes next to her skin - very handy - and it provided her first nickname: Glowworm.
Cute - is that a dog in the background on the floor???
ReplyDeleteHe looks wonderful! Infant Jaundice clears up quickly; my first-born had a little yellowish tinge, too. Take it easy; enjoy your sweet little Cubby!
ReplyDeleteInfant jaundice is TOTALLY normal (despite doctors freaking out about it). If the levels were really, really high then it might be reason to worry, but borderline jaundice (or even slightly above borderline) happens to most babies in the first week. The treatment for it just depends on how much the doctors trust that you'll go home, keep breastfeeding (if you're doing that), and get your baby to start pooping that bilirubin out!

Susy: Yup, that's Mia back there. She LOVES this kid. To the point of irritation, sometimes, but still, it's nice to know we don't have to worry about the dog biting the baby.
ReplyDeleteI too was a bilirubin baby so he and I are cool like that.
ReplyDeleteAlso, he's so not thinking "when's snacktime?". He's thinking "if I poop now, will I read about it on your blog tomorrow?"
Congratulations! :)))
ReplyDeleteCubby is adorable. And he looks like you, Kristin!
ReplyDeleteMy son also had the yellow skin tinge. We put his bassinet in front of the window and let all the sun light work its magic. His levels only required two little visits back to the hospital. It passes quickly. He looks so perfect. Congratulations again.
ReplyDeleteHe;s pretty gorgeous. Congrats :cD
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! He's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHope Momma and A and everyone are doing well!
Cubby--The last time I heard that name was on the Mickey Mouse Club Show. Cubby was a drummer and child star. May your Cubby have equal successes!
