Daddy's Little Helper

My tardiness this morning has nothing to do with Irene, who seems to have decided to only send a little rain and wind our way. Nothing exceptional. No, today's late post is brought to you by Cubby, The Boy Who Wouldn't Nap. He thought there was no point in taking a morning nap when there was food to be eaten and books to be read and toys to fling about the living room.

Yesterday he didn't take an afternoon nap, and that was almost certainly because of this:

Who can sleep when there's a huge bucket of nails to play with?

And by "playing," we mean "dumping on the ground and then carefully putting back into the bucket." Over and over and over.

Plus, hammers!

And Mia.

But the hammer was way more exciting.

Thanks to A.'s heroic efforts, the patio roof was entirely finished yesterday. Cubby's contribution was negligible, though he did keep careful track of the hammer.

  1. Glad that Irene is going to be a non-event for you. Cubby is going to be building things in no time!

  2. Cubby continues to have the most adorable smile and varied expressions. They're quite delightful and help improve my somewhat grumpy mood! It's fun to see him having fun.

  6. When I saw the ladder I thought, uh-oh, he's going to try out the ladder! I thought, for sure, you'd get a lot of rain from Irene. We got moderate wind here in Rochester, but not a lot of rain.

  7. I am SHOCKED how big Cubby looks in his overalls. He has totally grown up this summer.
