Climbing into the kick-ass toy box and then throwing all the toys out.
Not PLAYING with them, you understand, just chucking them all out.
And then I obligingly put them all back in while he naps so that the rest of the family isn't climbing over mountains of toys to get through the library. So then he can do it AGAIN! WHEE!
I need a maid. Or a nanny. Or possibly just fewer toys in the toy box.
What a great hidey place for him.
ReplyDeleteWith the sun shining through the window, the wood that looks like it's glowing, and Cubby, you've got one great picture. Can't believe how big that toy box looks with Cubby inside. Yep, kick ass is totally appropriate for the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteMore balls needed perhaps?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a prediction I once made. Now all he needs is a sail painted on the inside of the lid and away he will go. Beth

My daughter throws shoes, blankets and other assorted household items into the shower when I'm in it.
ReplyDeleteI've assured her that some things don't need to shower, but somehow it has fallen on deaf ears...
Some thoughts which may or may not be useful. Leave out 5 toys (or any number that makes sense to you) at a time, then put the rest out of sight. Maybe once a week rotate out a new groups of 5 toys. They will be novel that way and he may spend a bit more time actually playing with the toys instead of throwing. At least you will have less toys to pick up numerous times each day. Also, it's time to make a game out of pick up before you transition to the next event. Announce you are going to go outside to play (or eat lunch or whatever) as soon as you both pick up all the toys. You will be lucky if you can keep Cubby focused on the task very long, but with fewer toys you can at least toss them in faster than he can throw them out. You don't want Cubby going through life thinking a magic house elf does all his clean up while he is sleeping.
ReplyDeleteI simply LOVE that chest --- a true heirloom piece. The little guy is pretty precious as well!!!! The cleaning of the same toys over and over, not so fun. But, it'll get better - when he's 23. haha yes, I have adult children.
