At Least the Floor Is Mopped

I woke up this morning (after waking up again and again at night--thanks so much, Poppy) feeling it was going to be one of those days that will feel useless. Or rather, one of those days when I feel useless.

And so, as a reminder to myself that I still do things even on days when I feel like I can't do anything, on this useless-feeling day, I have done the following:

Packed lunch for Cubby and Charlie.

Fed everyone breakfast.

Washed Poppy's diapers.

Washed and put back on the sheets from Cubby's and Charlie's beds.

Went outside with Jack, even though it was ten degrees, and swept the new snow off the front steps and the Honda.

Fed Jack lunch.

Vacuumed upstairs.

Swept and mopped the upstairs floors.

Kept a baby alive and relatively happy, which requires things like nursing, changing diapers, shaking rattly things, etc.

I also read some books to Jack and even built a Lego thing for him, which is something I usually resolutely avoid.

                                                         ************

Aaand, A. just walked in the house and said, "You look sick." I am not sick, but apparently I look that bad. Swell.

Over and out.

  2. Awww! Mom's are never useless. I guess your lack of sleep is making you feel that way...

  3. Anonymous: Miraculously, no one IS sick at the moment. I'm just waiting for the snotty hammer to fall, though. It can't last.

Linda: Moms don't have the luxury of being useless, which was more my point that I did not express very well. I woke up knowing I had to do things and feeling as if I never could. But I always do.

  4. And you did!! It seems to me that you are doing all kinds of things that are very, very important to some very important people. You are doing things that give your children a wonderful start in life and a wonderful environment in which to grow, things that form the family and keep it going (including A). That definitely strikes me as a very big SOMETHING!! So, I think it's time for a nap....

  5. When you're the mama, sick days are different. I hope you're feeling better soon.

  6. Hey there! I have just found your blog via another one and I am going to be a firm fan of your blog! I only have one child plus 2 furries - one of which (dog) has just churned up half the lawn and shredded a door mat while I was reading your blog - and dragged mud and grass and mat through the house. So personally I am in awe of your achievements today as I am yet to mop the floor. And yes I too had a disturbed sleep - feverish child in bed. Thank goodness for coffee and makeup. With hugs - Europafox x
