How Life Has Changed

I got four hours of sleep in a row last night. Four hours. Consecutively. This is the first time in two weeks I've slept longer than three hours at a stretch. It was very exciting.

Of course, not even this unaccustomed luxury was enough to keep me from forgetting to put the diaper cover on at the 3 a.m. diaper change, leading to Cubby waking up soaked with urine at 6 a.m. Oops.

Sorry, kid. But thanks for the four hours.

  2. Whoops. Correction. I checked the recipe and found that the Old Fashioned Rice Pudding should be cooked at 300 degrees.

    PS I asked my friend the baby wearing guru the best carriers for newborns and here's what she said...

    If mom doesn't mind a small learning curve, Moby Wrap is awesome for a newborn. Ring sling is also great but with a small learning curve (Maya Wrap is a great brand of ringsling). For someone who needs something totally, completely easy, a pouch is good, like a Hotsling

  5. Um, MIL - dumb question probably but the rice is cooked with you add it, right??

    When I lived in SE Asia I enjoyed this heavenly purple rice cooked with coconut cream and raisins in a bamboo shell.... Oh the thought of it is so evocative of SE Asia for me! I will try this! (um. After Lent is up).

  6. The rice is raw; use plain white rice, not converted rice. No eggs. I always look at the eggy recipes, but I never make them. The custard we make has lots of eggs (3 whole and 2 yolks to 2 cups milk and 1 cup heavy cream), so I have been sticking to the traditional eggless rice pudding.
