What the Hell?

I just got a very odd e-mail message, at the same e-mail address that is posted here, from a person whose e-mail address is Jarhead@blahblahblah. And this person sent me a link to a vintage pamphlet on farming with dynamite. Which is very cool and all, except . . . who the hell is Jarhead? I mean, I'm guessing I have a Marine on the other end there--I'm sleuthy like that--but other than that I haven't the faintest idea who this person is. The message was all buddy-buddy, like I'm supposed to know the sender, except I don't.

Jarhead, who are you? Tell me so that we may be friends. Because anyone who just stumbles upon a vintage pamphlet about farming with dynamite and then sends it to me is someone I would like to know. Or maybe not. Familiarity with explosives may not be the best precursor to friendship.

But seriously, who are you? Don't leave me hangin'. Like Darcy did by not responding to my e-mail after asking me a totally random question, and Darcy, I would like to know why you want to know who I know? Do you know that person?

And now are all the rest of you as confused and nosy as I am? Great. Have a fabulous weekend.

That's some spam, man.

If that's spam, the targeting is getting really good.

I'm so embarrassed. It's me.

I stumbled onto it with stumbleupon and being a former farm gurl it made me laugh. But I had nobody to share it with as I know very few 'farm' people anymore and had already emailed it to my family.

And I thought to myself... hmmmm, what blogs do I read that are just strange enough to enjoy this? So I went through my blogroll and said "Oh... this is a weird place. They seem like the kind of people who could use dynamite in their daily life". So I sent it on.

And yes, I suppose that since I read your blog my brain translates that into knowing you and thus I spoke as such. I would assume that is one of the downfalls of a public blog... people are like "oh wow... so how's it been" and you're all "Um, who are you". ;)

Sorry about that.

Yay! Thank you Meadowlark! I knew it had to be someone who reads this blog, but I couldn't for the life of my figure out who, and it was driving me CRAZY. If you had signed it "Meadowlark" I would've recognized you though, so see, I do kind of know you.

I'm not sure how I feel about being considered strange enough to enjoy the thought of farming with dynamite, but you were right, I did enjoy that pamphlet immensely. As will A. when I finally sit him down to look at it. He used to play with quarter sticks of dynamite as a kid. Sadly, they are now illegal, so no farming with dynamite for us. And you know I would TOTALLY do it if I could, because we have a LOT of stumps I would like to blow up and get rid of.

OK, but now you have to post the link so everybody can enjoy it. You have a far greater reach than I.
