Making Believe

It's still dark right now. Which means I can ignore that suspicious splashing sound coming from outside and pretend that today won't be yet another gloomy, dreary day of pouring rain, but instead may look like this:

Yeah, it's gloomy over in this part of New York State also. . . Can't wait for warm, sunny, short sleeves and shorts weather.

Sun is good!

Also--random question, but I need a serious answer: how much would one of the new lambs cost? (No, I don't want to buy one. I just want to know the going rate for one.)

Alicia: What, you mean if we were to sell them as spring lambs right now? We don't do that, because you get very, very little usable meat that way, but if we WERE to do it, we'd have to charge a lot per pound. In the fall we sell the big lambs (around 80-100 pounds live weight, which translates to about 30 or 40 pounds of actual meat after butchering) for $125 apiece, and then the butchering is an additional $60. That is WAY less than anyone else would charge, because A. has trouble charging what things are actually worth.

A spring lamb, were we to sell it, would still have to be at least $100, I would guess. Otherwise, it's not worth it to the shepherd to sell them so small.
