Happy Monday, duckies! How are you this fine morning? You know, it occurs to me that I don't actually know many of you that well (or, you know, AT ALL), and therefore I should confine myself to neutral, impersonal topics. Online small talk, if you will. Like the weather. A. agrees.
So! The last couple of days have been pretty unusual, weather-wise, for upstate New York: they have been dry. And not only dry in the sense that it wasn't actively raining, snowing, sleeting, or hailing, but the air was dry. Bliss.
Dry air is something I took for granted in Arizona, which is, of course, a desert (I KNOW--the things you learn here), and the air is therefore dry enough that nothing rots--it just mummifies. I don't miss living in Arizona, but I do miss that dry air. We generally have pretty high humidity here. It's that humidity that results in perpetually damp towels and mildewed closets. Gross. But you can also see the humidity in the air. At least, you can see the difference when it's not in the air. Everything looks all bright and sparkly, like it's a movie instead of real, dreary life.
Sadly, whatever weather system it was that brought us this has now moved away, and we're back to cloudy with a chance of showers. But it was nice while it lasted.

Well, seeing as you asked, the weather has been very frustrating here actually! How I hear you ask? Well, we're in the middle of a pretty severe drought-only no one seems to have told the weather. We keep watching in hope as grey clouds gather on the horizon. We try to supress our excitment as they come tumbling over the hills. We batten down the hatches and wait for the thrilling sound of rain on the tin roof...and wait and wait and wait. Then we sigh, as the clouds pass over us and dump all the precious rain on the ungrateful sods on the north coast who are bitching about a few minor floods!!
*sigh* the days are getting longer, summer is coming. So is the heat....is it too much to ask for a little rain?

WET, VERY VERY WET! I went outside this morning (during a break in the rain) and emptied the rain gauge. We had 3 inches of rain!!! It has been raining for days on end and there is another wet week ahead of us. We have mushrooms sprouting all over the yard, the grass is getting way to tall, the pond is overflowing... Nothing to do but wait it out...
For some strange reason, here in Minnesota, we have had the best summer in ages. Yes, it's been too dry. But we have had only a few days in the 80s, most in the 70s, low humidity for us, few severe storms, and just generally weather to celebrate. I am sure that this means a terrible winter with lots of temps below zero and many feet of snow.
Stunning! It's that clear, crisp fall weather that makes all the rest worthwhile.
I grew up in Colorado, so I know the dryness of which you speak. I remember the first time I pulled a fuzzy, green, mildewed shoe out of my closet here. Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.
The days are just starting to get a little cooler. Still no rain. has not rained in over a month so all the grass is crunchy and brown.
Alos some leaves are starting to turn colors.
How ridiculous was the weather this weekend? Ugh. Perfection. Wish it could be like that all the time.
2 inches rain yesterday..thunderstorms...tornado warnings close...sunny today high in the lo 80's...been cool this summer for around here...lots of dry (not humid) days...plenty of rain for the garden
Small talk.......this isn't gonna last long...not much blog fodder that way. :) Tomorrow are we going to discuss aches and pains? :) I guess A. knows what he is talking about , he is a lawyer after all. hee hee

Beautiful mid70s high-desert weather. Although it froze last night and is supposed to his 91 tomorrow. But the skies and clear and blue and humidity is non-existent.
Heh, it's snowing in the mountains in Colorado! We should all keep that in mind.
70s, mostly clear, but rain overnight. Finally! My garden needed it. We could trade a rainy day for a clear one, if Mother Nature would allow.
It is the 3rd week of Spring and our temps should be around 23celcius and we are having 35deg instead. It is going to be a very very hot summer. We are in a severe drought our combined dam levels over 3 dams is less than 9% so we are in a little trouble. But the gardens are beautiful as we nearly all have tanks and after all this is the Garden City. So blow a little of the wet weather over to Australia and we'll love ya for it.
Beautiful dog days here. We had a hot dry summer and very little rain so far this September. Must say it's nice right now in the 70's during the day.
