Oh, Right. That.

Totally forgot today is New Year's Eve until I saw all the  "Year in Review" junk on Yahoo.  So how will The Family Blackrock be ringing out the new year and ringing in the new one?

Well, we'll go to the dump.  Maybe to the feed store to get some chicken food.  A. will be running the lake pump to fill the cistern during this unseasonable warm spell.  Maybe Cubby can get something more exciting for his birthday this year than 4,000 gallons of water.  Cubby will toast to the new year with some milk and go to bed at seven, as usual.  And if we're lucky, A. and I will follow suit about an hour later.

Hey, YOU try waking up at 5 a.m. every morning and see how late you want to stay up at night.

ANYWAY.

Yes, we're lame.  And yes, we are totally okay with that.

Sp, poppets, what are your plans for this rockin' New Year's Eve?

So I'm not the only party pooper! I will try to stay awake to watch the ball drop, but don't count on it. Around 9:30ish, I'll get this look from Molly, my Black Lab, that clearly says, "Don't you realize it's time to go to bed?" And somewhere between 5 am or so tomorrow morning, if I am not up, I will get this cold nose and a big lick across my face, which if I ignore, will be followed by a big black paw slapping at me.

Well, I'm getting chased into the shower to get ready for a kids New Year's party downtown. Should be over by 5, home by 6.

Then we unload ... excuse me, I mean we send the 11-year-old to a friend's house for a party, the 8-year-old and the 3-month-old to the grandparents', and we go to a grown-up party and drink frozen drinks.

And I'll probably fall asleep on the couch by 10.

Actually your day sounds more exciting than ours.
I think I may join Cubby in the going to bed at 7 group(dang cold).
It gets dark here at about 5 or so, it may be later today ..the sun is actually SHINING right now.
Hopefully I will sleep through the night to wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow.

You are totally not lame. You are parents and farmers.

I'm going to a party tonight, of which children are invited so it will end early then I will read my new book and go to bed by 10:30...

Then the ridiculously loud fireworks will start (we live on an indian reservation) and I'll be up until 2:30, walking around the house and trying to calm the dog down.

It's the NW Backyard Veggies Rockin New Years Eve! (damn you, Dick Clark).

I grew up in the country, and we dug our own dump, and it was into sandy soil, so that was one of our very favorite places to play. I think that has to be a future blog entry. Very woodchuck, I think.

We went out for the first time in years and had a great time. Put on our tux and fancy dress and had fun dancing to a live band with our new friends in our new town. We're usually old fogies, but really kicked up our heels this year. Oh, and I started a new blog as my new year's resolution! Come on over!
