T.T.: How To Write a (Very) Long-Running Blog

Just start randomly sending words out into the vast void of the Internet, and before you know it, 14 years will have passed.

Yup. Today is the fourteenth anniversary of this small, generally unknown blog. I know it's trite to say it, but I literally cannot believe it's been 14 years.

That's a reaallllly long time. It's also 3,091 posts, tens of thousands of words, and hundreds of readers.

That's you! And I appreciate each and every one of you.

So today, on this anniversary, I have a question for you: Do you want me to keep doing the Tuesday Tips? I still feel kind of weird giving advice that no one actually asks for, but if it's helpful to you, I'll continue.

Otherwise, I'll still post on Tuesdays, but it will be something much more random.

Random is pretty much my modus operandi, so that would be nothing new.

Anyway. Happy Anniversary to Going Country. Might as well shoot for another decade or so, right?

Happy Anniversary! I like the Tuesday Tips & find it helpful. (Random posts would be okay as well. I just like reading your blog.)

I agree with Linda. I've been wanting to blog more, but I have so little time. I was thinking, though, that I am approaching feeling okay with sending out unsolicited advice about homeschooling now that my eldest will be graduating next year. Over the last many years, I've done so many thing that made me think, "Oh, I should tell people THIS is a great homeschooling idea," but I felt that I wasn't exactly qualified. (There's nothing I dislike more than a blogger who gives parenting advice when her child is still in diapers. Unless it's a "Never do what I just did" sort of post.)

I am benefitting from the Tuesday Tips, but if it isn't every Tuesday, that's fine. A random photo of laundry hanging outside is good, too. (Seriously, I like the laundry photos.)

I enjoy the tips , they are the most useful REAL tips. Not ones we will never use.
You do REAL really well. The REAL life of a REAL mom. Not reality mom. Love it. You do what suits you, I will read and enjoy.

Keep going with the Tuesday Tips! Or whatever else you want to write (but Tuesday Tips almost guarantee a post every Tuesday). It doesn't really matter what exactly you're writing on; I just enjoy reading your writing.

I just discovered your blog. Throughly enjoy it. Even though I am a Grandmother always open to new ideas.
I have been reading the old blogs catching up. Your tips are very useful. Thanks😊

I think that you should do the Tuesday Tips if you wish! But I always enjoy posts about the kids--perhaps they could each "write" an entry at times. Mary in MN

I enjoy the Tuesday tips and find them helpful or at the very least enjoyable. If you want to write anything else that would be ok too. I just started reading your blog a few months ago from a comment you left on Frugal Girl and have been loving your blog ever since.

So far it's unanimous. Post whatever you want, I'll enjoy reading it! And here's to another 14 years at least.

I don't post, but I do read. More of us read than you probably are aware! I enjoy your blog, because it is real. You are a real mom showing the world how your day to day is. That is refreshing.

Hi Kristin! I've only commented a few times, but I've been a faithful reader for over a year now, after first finding you via TheFrugalGirl. I really enjoy all your posts, including the tips! I'm only about 15 minutes from a grocery store, hospital, etc. myself, so I'm absolutely fascinated by what it's like to live in such a rural area. You've prompted endless musings and questions. How do you get your groceries home intact? Do you have to take a cooler any time you do a grocery run? Are there different/special supplies you keep on-hand in case of (God forbid) a medical emergency? You *can* still get Amazon deliveries...right? Anyway, that's for giving the world such an awesome glimpse into your awesome and unusual life!

No advice, just to let you know I've been following you since before you were a mom! I have enjoyed watching your four kids grow and the cute things they do. I also admired you when you had that huge garden and all the things you did with the food you grew. I've been at this blogging thing for 12 years.

P. S. That's a horrible picture of me, got to change it. Doesn't even look like me!

I've been with you the whole time! Does that make me a stalker? Love the blog! Keep it up and will surely come along for the ride!
