In the midst of the frenzy that was the tomato harvest this year, there may have been some hysteria-tinged jokes made about having fresh tomatoes at Christmas. HAHAHAHA. How funny is that! Fresh tomatoes at Christmas! The very idea!
You see where I'm going with this, don't you?
Yeah, the joke's on me.
Yes, despite taking no special measures whatsoever to make the tomatoes last, they WILL NOT GO AWAY. They are the tomatoes that will not die. Tomatoes of the undead. Freaky, supernatural tomatoes. CHRISTMAS tomatoes. It's starting to scare me a little bit. So I think I'll eat them. Just to show them who's boss. And to win the tomato war once and for all.
And also, to get them OUT OF MY DAMN KITCHEN ALREADY. Because, really. Tomatoes at Christmas is just not right.

Maybe it's just a Christmas miracle. Turning snowballs into tomatoes or something.
In other news, I think someone from the New York Times is stalking you. This is the third or fourth time that you have posted about a topic, and then a couple of days later I see an article about the same topic in the Times. You're so cutting edge!

I think it's awesome! I keep saying I hate this time of year: I hate the cold, the snow, the expectations that come with holidays, and, perhaps most of all, the lack of good fruits and vegetables. Lucky you.
I had the last ripening tomato in my house on Thanksgiving. No way it would have lasted until Christmas. I think you've found some kind of tomato fountain of youth. Call Ponce de León quick.

I still have a bunch as well. I think a batch of venison sloppy joes is in order.
I have some, too.. I've NEVER had this happen, and I've grown tomatoes for years and years!!LOL It's the tomato season that won't die!!LOL Good luck!
Okay.
I have read every single one of your posts, and think I've fallen a little in love with all of The Family, even the fish. (They haven't grown those big ugly head thingies, have they? No? Then, yeah, the fish too.)
The tomatoes, by the way, are EXCELLENTLY pictured today! Nice job! We can see them shivering and cowering in outnumbered fear. Their end is near....
Kristin, if you'll let someone who uses ellipses (ellipsi? ellipsises... es?) make a request... (ellipsun?) could you not denigrate yourself so much? When I started reading this blog, I thought you hated your life and/or yourself becuase you called yourself names so often.
You're a brilliant, talented woman whose skills are requested not only by loving dogs, outside employers and devoted blog readers (count me in) but by people who love you. That's pretty freakin' cool. You deserve mucho praise, chiquita. You're successfully accomplishing what many of us only wish we might be able to think of attempting. And you're happy. That's better than 'cool' or 'trendy' or anything else, because cool and trendy are supposedly a path to happy but hello we all know that's bull.
So don't take any crap from anyone, Upstate Superchick, and that includes yourself.
Happy Christmas. Your gift from me: I want to be as cool as you when I grow up. Because you ROCK. Oh, and lots of new comments peppered all over your blog. Happy hunting.
Did you know that you can just freeze them whole and then add them to soup or stews frozen and let them cook away? I am a senior citizen and had not one inkling to do that but read it on someone's blog. Sorry to all the old wrinkled cherry tomatoes that I have thrown away. I could have used you after all.
