Whoopsy

Remember when I casually mentioned a sprained ankle the MiL had? Turns out, it wasn't sprained; it was broken. And she had to have surgery on it Thursday. And she's not supposed to put any weight on it for two months. And she has to hobble around on crutches.

At least it's not snowing yet. Yay?

OOO, poor poor MIL. Looks like you'll be playing nurse for a few months. Being on crutches sure is no fun. Wish her best of luck healing quickly for me. Hopefully she'll be back to 100% for spring gardening season!

The MiL should get a handicapped car permit for those months. It saved us lots of trouble when Slade broke his ankle.

Oh no! What a bummer. I hope she can manage alright on the crutches. Hang in there MIL!

How did that happen? I second the suggestion for the temporary handicapped parking permit; I had one when I had foot surgery a few years ago and I was so thankful for it. Hope you heal quickly, MiL!

Sorry to hear about the broken ankle. Crutches are tiring. Good luck to her. And to YOU - her nursemaid!

Aw man! My MiL usually breaks things around Christmas time and has to go to the hospital. I think it's my cooking.

Saying "OUCH" for your poor MIL and "Hang in there" to you. Farmer-Dear had the same experience this summer. We thought it was broken. It finally gave him enough trouble he went and had it x-rayed. Yup, it's broken. MD wanted to schedule surgery for screws. F-D said "No" he has too much going on until after harvest. He's in a gel splint now.

Thanks for all the good thoughts, folks. K and A are taking exceptional care of me (knowing that when the time comes, I'll be able to walk the little one so K can catch a nap. ) Heck, I would have done that without the ankle -- but maybe I shouldn't let on.

Ouchie! Glad to hear that you're coping ok! Amazing though isn't it? That you only JUST found out that is was broken? The human body is an amazing thing! My sister broke her wrist a few years ago, she only found out that it was actually broken after about a week when my Mom dragged her to the doc!
Heal quickly!
