Old Commerce

There's this department store, right? Like, an old-fashioned department store, on the main street of a village about 15 miles from us? And they sell really good outdoor clothes, like wool socks and work boots and stuff? They're celebrating their 149th year in business this year.

I just think that's cool.

That's amazing... And it makes me muster up even more dislike for Walmart and Academy for putting places like that out of business. I love a owner managed shop on the town square!

congrats to them......now go buy something so they can stay in business that many more years. Shop local , shop often. ;)

Sounds like Wal-Mart never got there because there was not enough 'critical' business activity.

It's not cool, it's WAY cool.

My sweet little town was murdered by Wal-Mart. All we have now is a bank, a tag agency, and a florist on our main street. Sigh.

Very cool. I live around the corner from a hardware shop like that, and always try to go there rather than a "big box" store.

BTW, you taunted Old Man Winter the other day, and I am paying for it today. It's snowing here. Boo.

Wow. Can you imagine how many changes they have seen and survivied? Go and celebrate with them maybe you'll see something for the cub bear.

Go by yourself some wool socks, girlie, for that cold winter season!
