Slipping Into Something Comfortable

Do you ever have those days when it's obvious to the rest of the world that it is, in fact, Thursday, but in your own stubborn, thick head it is TOTALLY FRIDAY? Yeah, that was me yesterday. I persisted in thinking it was Friday pretty much all day, even though I even went to the farmers market in the Small City, which is only open Tuesday and Thursday. Even after THAT, I kept thinking it was Friday.

Who can fathom the mysterious workings of my admittedly limited mind?

ANYWAY.

Now that it is Friday, let's have an Audience Participation Day! WHEEE!!!

You know you love them.

Today's APD brought to you by my slippers, which I am wearing for the first time in months. Ahhhh, the comfort.

I spend all fall, winter, and spring in my slippers, day and night when I'm in the house. Even sometimes outside, when I'm in the house and need to unexpectedly run out of the house to, say, futilely attempt to get marauding sheep out of my garden or yell at the dogs when they bark at cyclists on the road.

My slippers get a lot of use, in other words. But in the summer, when it's hot? Forget it. Ain't no way I'm swathing my feet in wool. So in the summer I live in my sandals, indoors and out. But it finally started cooling down, and now I have my beloved slippers back on. I prefer wool slip-on slippers--the kind that cover about three-quarters of my foot but are open in the back for easy on and off.

So now, let us turn the discussion to you, poppets: What is your preferred housebound footwear? Slippers? Flip-flops? Shoes? Or do you eschew all foot-related containment systems and instead go all barefoot-and-in-the-kitchen style?

barefoot or socks. Depends on just how gritty the floor is. I have very sandy soil and the cats and dog (And me) track in a lot of sand.

I live to be barefoot. However in the winter that just doesn't work when the temps drop below freezing and stay there. Then I go for the thick socks and slip on fleece-lined slippers.

In the summer it's definitely barefoot. Come fall and winter I get out my cozy knitted socks.

Tennis shoes during the day...because I am always in and out of the house and I also feel more energetic with them on , I need something with cushion to them or my feet hurt later. After my shower in the evening though I put on socka and slippers (the ballerina looking with elastic around the top of them and leather-ish soles. Beth
Tell us about the farmers market when you have time , won't you?

I can't go barefoot unless I'm in the shower or at the beach. It grosses me out to no end to think of the possibility of stepping on dirt/food/hair/dear god I'm freaking out just thinking about it.

Slippers (wool-lined) all the way! With flip-flops in the summertime!

Handknit and handfelted wool clogs and if it's really cold in the house handknit wool socks too. Summer, barefoot with slip on shoes by the door.

Barefoot when I can. When it gets cold, moccasins. When it's really cold, fleece-lined moccasins.

Barefoot all the way. If it isn't too freezing, I may even step outside for a minute or two barefoot during less warm times. And I take off my shoes at any time I feel I can get away with it. Friends houses, waiting outside to pick my kids up from school, meetings of the women's group I am in, .... You name it, if taking my shoes off even MIGHT be acceptable, you can bet I will do it.

I hate shoes. When I was a kids, I had a theory that wars were caused by world leaders getting grumpy because they were stuck in uncomfortable shoes all day.

Barefoot if it's not too chilly, otherwise socks. And I spent the entire day yesterday convinced it was Friday and was vastly disappointed last night when Who Do You Think You Are wasn't on the telly. But I'm okay, as it's on tonight, when it's REALLY Friday.....

I wear my flip-flops pretty much all year round, and I rarely go barefoot. My floors are not that clean. But if it gets cold inside, then I do wear slippers, which can be worn with socks.

barefoot inside in the summer with sandals at each door so I can run out and water calves, hang out laundry, get the mail, etc.

Cooler times, socks.

COLD months-heavy socks, slippers (fleece ones also).

We usually don't wear outside shoes in the house to keep the dirt off the floors and carpets.

Barefoot. Even when it's cold, if I can sit on the couch with a blanket over me (otherwise, slipper socks).

I grew up in a shoes off house and strive to do that myself so I'm usually barefoot. I've never found a slipper I likes, they always seem to be more trouble that they are worth. When I'm chilly I have a seasonal sock collection.

Barefoot (even on tile) 90% of the time - I even shed socks with my shoes at the door. If cold enough (rare in Tucson) my very bedraggled "white"-ish fuzzy slippers
