A Reminder

Memorial Day means a lot of things to people. Probably first and foremost these days, it means a day off of work. Plus barbecues, beer, and all those other summertime rituals that get dusted off and put into heavy rotation starting on this three-day weekend.

But while you're enjoying your day off, plus your barbecue and beer and whatever other hedonistic pleasure signifies a holiday for you, please remember what Memorial Day is meant to be about. You can read all about it here, but in sum, it's a day to remember all the soldiers who have died in service. So just do that. Remember them. And then go on and do your thing to celebrate your holiday.

Peace out, poppets.

Maybe that's why, here in Canada, Remembrance Day (our version of Memorial Day) is NOT a holiday. All work ceases for two minutes silence and those who can, (usually retirees) attend services.

American national holidays...I have never understood what the point of celebrating someone on a Monday ...when the actual day of the person or event happened ,is another day.
Politics....it's in every nook and cranny of life. Too bad.

Bless all the families that are without someone who so freely gave their life to support our rights and our country's freedom. Thank you.

Most appropriate. Thanks for the reminder. Wouldn't it be great to have to look back at your blog to remember when we were involved in a military conflict. Ah well, we can only hope while we eat those hot dogs and chili and remember friends no longer with us.
