Let Me Die In Peace

No, I'm not dying. Relax. The title simply refers to the way I feel when I WANT to die. Like when I'm hanging on the toilet and getting better acquainted with the contents of my stomach. That is, when I'm sick.

See, when I'M sick, I pretty much just want to be left alone to suffer in peace. I don't feel the need to have anyone around to witness me rolling around on the floor and moaning.

Or whatever.

I just want to be able to crawl into my little cave (bed) like a wounded animal and quietly endure until I get better or die. Whichever comes first. So far, I've always managed to get better. Even though it may feel like I'm dying.

Other people I know, however, wish constant attendance when they're ill. They want a witness to their suffering. This makes them feel better, I guess. I don't understand it, myself, but I have noticed it.

So which are you? A solitary sufferer or one who requires company?

Solitary. Check in on me to make sure I have tissues, NyQuil, and soup and then leave me the heck alone.

Definitely solitary. I want to curl up in a little ball, sleep and just recuperate all by my lonesome.

Solitary. Leave me alone with my germs, a blanket, and the remote control. (And the TV.)

So, are you sick, then? Or just attending to a sick audience-needer?

Solitary. Absolutely solitary.

Nope, not sick or tending to a sickie. Just reflecting generally on stoicism. Something that I suspect will come up more often as I get more uncomfortable in the next month or so.

Solitary...just check on me once in awhile to make sure I am alive, bring me water and meds and then go away!

For the most part solitary, but I don't mind having someone check in every few hours or so. That way I don't have to leave the bed! =)

I with everyone else. I want to be alone. No tv, no noise. Just under the covers and lots of medication handy.

I'm best left alone when sick, or I might growl and bite someones head off. Tough being mom though. Doesn't matter if you are dieing, you still have to take care of sick children.

trashili- the way I feel when I'm sick

I just want to be alone also..

Yes, leave me alone, but you darn well better check on me periodically and be prepared to fetch and carry.

Nope, I won't even go there!

Are you kidding?! I REFUSE to die alone? And since every time I have a stomach virus I'm convinced I'm going to die, I need a witness. I usually don't get one, but I NEED one.

I totally agree with the leave me alone faction. I just want to curl up and go away from it all.

So make sure you do have someone who isn't brain fogged on pain pills or nyquil checking in to make sure you really are ok.

But I do want to warn you that can be dangerous. I almost died when I developed a secondary infection after a relatively minor surgery because I was just trying to "go away from the pain" and didn't realize it was more serious than a normal recovery. I didn't know what normal was and just didn't want to be a whiny baby. Luckily my mom sensed something wasn't right and made me go to the emergency room.

Also be aware that someone who wants solitude to go away from pain or illness that you don't see obvious signs for (the obvious flu symptoms or something doctor diagnosed) could be showing signs of depression.

Alone. THE FUCK alone.

Once, I had a boyfriend who was witnessing me throwing up (beer flu) and tried to soothe me by holding the back of my skull while I barfed.

NOT HELPFUL.

I kicked him.

We broke up shortly thereafter.

Solitary, definitely. With the tv remote in hand. But when I need soup or something, I wish for my sister to appear with it and then leave me the heck alone. DEFINITELY leave me alone when I am barfing.

I'm all "leave me alone!" when I feel awful, although I don't mind having a wonderful person provide me with tea and tissues.

Mal De Mer? Or something similar, Mal De Man Cub? Wish you a expedient recovery! LA&A Railroad....

Pretty much solitary, but I want someone close enough so if I need them to fetch something. Like "on call" I guess, without the pay.

Solitary. But leave me my book/ tissues/ chocolate/ Coke/ water/ chicken soup/ fluffy teddy bear /rub my feet/back /go away/ turn the light on/off/ turn the radio on/off.

I'm terrible when I'm sick.

Solitary. I just want to be left alone. I've never had anyone to take care of me when I'm sick, so it is what I am used to.

Another for the "leave me the heck alone" camp. Just want someone else in the house to make me tea and to let the dogs out.
