And so on.
Many hysterical stories about this massive storm, many hysterical weathermen (oh, sorry--meteorologists) doing breakdowns of two separate storm systems and when they might hit and what the snowfall totals might be and where there might be sleet or freezing rain and what to do to get ready*. . .
Yeah. I woke up to maybe two inches of snow this morning. So much for that.
Maybe we'll get pounded later today, but somehow I doubt it. This is one Weather Event that ended up being less than eventful.
* If you live in the northeast and don't know what to do to get ready for a winter storm, what are you doing here? Seriously.

Thanks for posting so dang early...hope you got back to sleep for a good long time.
I do believe you are going to get a big honkin' snow sometime later today, tonight ,tomorrow.
You are right....if you can't take the cold/snow ... don't live in the snow belts.
I am thinking the weather eedjuts should rely less on computer 'models' and more on common sense. The old timers can tell you the weather better than them. Beth
Hope the castle sleeps well tonight and gets over these colds super-quick.

What cubby will someday say to you guys when/if he ever gets tired.
Too bad you can't generate electricity with children. :)
Yes, you are up early! Here in MN we have been hearing about your storm of the decade, whatever that means. Glad it proved to be nothing much. Mary in MN
Glad you are so far unimpressed. We got fairly lucky here too. Of course that said, I would have to admit that the luck also involved not having to get out and drive anywhere in the whiteout conditions that supposedly closed the major interstate highway for 400 miles from border to border(Kansas). Here next to the stove, all is well. So, a question. When metro dwellers are warned to prepare for a week or longer with no electricity, what exactly is their best bet for heat? Take electricity, wood burning stoves and generators out of the equation, and what are apartment dwellers to do? (I know I'm missing something, please enlighten me.) I can't see hauling a propane heater up 46 flights of stairs and actually lighting it as a very attractive option. And I also can't imagine finding said propane heater if you are the 3rd person looking. Are they well stocked in metro shopping venues? I am so clueless about how city people live.
Our area has 55,000 homes without power. Thankfully, our home is not one of them so far. The schools are set up as shelters, which of course my two boys are SOOO disappointed about! :) If the windy portion of the storm hasn't hit you yet, batten down the hatches while you can.
I don't know exactly what happened to the storm right in our area, but I heard that Chicago is paralyzed with the third largest snowstorm ever, and Oklahoma City looks disastrous, with very cold temps and blowing snow. We're just steady here, and it's all been rather normal. Still, my word is montsta, so I guess that's for the effects of the storm elsewhere --
Yeah. Usually, we're in the comfort of NorCal when these big winter weather warnings come up and we can be all, "oh, I hope everyone's ok" while we bike for tacos or something, but this time, we're in Colorado for our ski trip and WHOA NELLY is it cold. 54 below this morning.
Obviously, no skiing until it warms up to at least 20 below, which we lived through yesterday with limited frostbite.
Stay warm, Kris.
We didn't get much either- the storm's north edge was about 50 miles South of us. Feels strange, seeing Milwaukee and Chicago with more than a foot when we only cleared a few inches up here in Green Bay Packers country.
there is not enough snow. i want more snow. how am i supposed to keep building my excellent snowfort without more snow?
The weather is never right...I think they just make up big storms to get more time on air.
