Well . . . yes. We kind of do, as a matter of fact. Blackrock is cold and damp, much like a cave. And lamb pelts, while extraordinarily primitive and a wee bit disturbing considering Cubby's Halloween costume, are warm. That is why I have eaten my unspoken words (and the, uh, lambs) and we now have a photographic chronicle of Cubby the Cave-baby on lamb pelts.
We have thus far managed to restrain ourselves from actually making him a little suit from the pelts, but there's a long, cold Blackrock winter ahead . . .

In Germany you can buy lamb pelts in "baby stores" for your baby to sleep on. We actually bought one for our daughter and she slept on it the first couple of month.
He looks like he could not be more content than when he is with his 'sheep'. :) Glad you have a goodwill store, they have some really nice things there , you just have to look. Beth
We got one as a gift at our baby shower and both our kids loved it. Of course, so did our cat at the time. Which is why he slept on Parker's head one night when Parker was around 9 months old and almost suffocated him. True story. Parker turned blue. We got rid of the cat and kept the pelt.
PS Forgot to mention . . . we still have our pelt and it's a wonderful addition to a cot when camping.
The one where he is wrapped up in it is beyond adorable. Why mess with centuries-old methods for keeping baby warm?
He probably loves the feeling of the pelts as well as the warmth. It sure beats plastic-based acrylics!
Hand knit wool garments (felted are extra warm), polar fleece, long undies (made from the high tech stuff, silk, or wool) are essential at polar Blackrock. Remember layers are key and keep the hands, feet and head warm. Wool hats in the house are a fashion statement.

We just bought a nice warm lamb pelt with the thought of using for extra warmth and a soft place to play once the bambino arrives. I love all your pictures of Cubby with his!
